The Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) says it has sealed some property believed to have been fraudulently acquired by former Abia governor, Senator Theodore Orji.
EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale, informed the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Enugu that the property have been sealed in Umuahia, Abia State capital, on June 24.
He stated the property have been linked to Orji in the middle of ongoing investigations.
The property embody Abia Mall which accommodates Shoprite and different enterprise entities, Benac Inns reverse Broadcasting Company of Abia.
He stated a housing property located at former Umuahia Fundamental Market was additionally sealed.
“Our investigations present that the property belongs to Theodore Orji and as a part of the investigations, we’ve got to seal them. That’s precisely what we’ve got executed,” he stated.
Oyewale assured that the previous governor can be arraigned in due time.
“The sealed property are proof of the continued investigations and the probe will decide if extra will probably be sealed,” he stated.
Orji, who represents Abia Central on the Senate, was Abia governor between 2007 and 2015.
He has been underneath EFCC’s radar since 2018 for allegedly misappropriating over N48 billion.
