End SARS: Protest turns violent in Osogbo

There was chaos among the many Finish SARS protesters in Osogbo, Osun State on Thursday morning as suspected cultists hunted protesters.

Some youth suspected to be hoodlums have been stated to have hijacked the nationwide Finish SARS protest to unleash mayhem on the residents of the city, obstructing vehicular motion and threatened motorists who dared to make use of the highway.

Round 7:30 am on Thursday, some Protesters gathered at Oke-fia and blocked the highway that results in Osun State authorities home.

DAILY POST gathered that some youths, approached the protesters they usually requested them to cease the protest at Oke-fia and be a part of others at Olaiya junction.

The conflict ensued at Olaiya junction round 10am as some youth with cutlass, axe and another harmful weapon arrived on the venue to hijack the protest.

Residents of Osogbo, the state capital of Osun, have raised alarm over the sample of protests within the city saying the pattern of such struggles indicated dicey public disturbance.

The youths previously six days in Osogbo had protested in opposition to brutality, extortion and extra-judicial killings by the operatives of Anti-Theft Response Squad (SARS) earlier than it was hijacked by the suspected hoodlums on Wednesday evening.

Residents alleged that the protesters on Wednesday evening looted outlets in Osogbo.

Recall that the Osun State Authorities had lamented that the continuing Finish SARS protest has been hijacked by some hoodlums within the state.
