Nigeria loans: Buhari justifies borrowing
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday justified his authorities’s borrowing to finance infrastructure.
He said that his administration take loans to unravel the dire shortfall in infrastructure.
The Nigerian chief spoke on Tuesday at a gathering with members of the Presidential Financial Advisory Council (PEAC) on the State Home, in Abuja.
Buhari burdened that the nation should repair its roads to save lots of lives from hovering street accidents.
“We have now so many challenges with infrastructure. We simply must take loans to do roads, rail and energy, in order that traders will discover us engaging and are available right here to place their cash,’’ he mentioned after listening to a presentation by PEAC chaired by Ayo Salami.
He regretted that the failure to supply the infrastructure for efficient transportation disadvantaged the nation of its well-deserved standing because the West African hub for Air cargo transportation and trans-shipment of products.
Buhari famous that Nigeria would have been in bother by now.
“That’s the reason we nearly stopped the importation of meals thereby saving jobs and international trade,” the president added.
