The Federal Authorities has opened diplomatic channels on the plight of Nigerians awaiting deportation from Saudi Arabia.
The Secretary to the Authorities of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha mentioned this on the Presidential Activity Drive on COVID-19 briefing on Monday in Abuja.
Mustapha, the Chairman of the PTF on COVID-19, mentioned that “Nigeria is at the moment working with the federal government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the deportation of 600 Nigerians.”
He mentioned that the deportees had been anticipated to reach in two batches on Jan. 28 and 29 and could be quarantined for 14 days in keeping with COVID-19 protocols.
Recall that the affected Nigerians had been reportedly arrested by Saudi authorities as a result of that they had stayed past their permits.
On Friday, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Fee (NIDCOM), confirmed that the nationals could be flown residence subsequent week.
