Group harps on dialogue as solution to Southern Kaduna crisis

Interfaith Mediation Centre has maintained its stand on dialogue as the most veritable tools through which the incessant Southern Kaduna crisis can be resolved and permanent peace restored

A communique jointly signed by Pastor Dr. James Movel Wuye and Imam Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa, Co-Executive Directors of the Interfaith Mediation Centre, after a monthly media review meeting with journalists, advised Communities to engage in active dialogue as a way of ensuring peaceful coexistence.

The communique urged people to avoid hiding under the guise of religion to perpetrate evil in the communities, stressing that dialogue is the best way to promote peaceful coexistence, especially in Kaduna.

“Dialogue is what the two religions preach and what Interfaith Mediation Center is doing in terms of dialogue among the aggrieved communities.

”That faith-based groups are the only groups that will mediate help to ensure lasting solutions to the crisis, especially in Southern Kaduna.

“That there is no enmity between Muslims and Christians in Nigerians, hence the urgent need to show concern to all the victims of the Southern Kaduna crisis regardless of background.” The communique added

The centre expressed sadness over the continuous killing and destruction of property, despite the deployment of security personnel to the region.

It said “Both the Holy Bible and Qur’an have directed their followers to always have religious tolerance in what they do because both religions preach peaceful coexistence.
