NSCDC Seals 16 Unlawful Non-public Safety Companies In Akwa Ibom, Arrests 30 Employees

The Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, Akwa Ibom Command, has closed 16 unlawful non-public safety companies and arrested 30 of their personnel within the final one month within the state.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Samuel Fadeyi, disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Uyo on Wednesday, evening.

He stated operatives of the command clamped down on some non-public guard firms and found that a few of them had but to register with the company as stipulated by the regulation.

“Within the final month, we have now been robust on unlicensed non-public guard firms in Akwa Ibom.

“We swooped on completely different company organisations being guarded by unlicensed guards, making a number of arrests and sealing the businesses.

“We arrested 30 guards from completely different beats working for 16 completely different unlawful non-public guard firms and the businesses had been sealed.

“The regulation, coaching, and licensing of personal guard firms is a core mandate of the corps underneath the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps Act, 2003 (as amended).

Fadeyi highlighted the risks in using quacks, together with the unfavourable picture of company entities each time the company swooped on them for arrests.

The state commandant urged people and organisations in search of providers of personal guards to patronise licensed ones.


“We are going to permit the registered non-public guard firms to work. These individuals which are licensed ought to work very nicely in order that they are going to know that the company is defending them,”
he stated.
