Oyo civil servants begin indefinite strike over unpaid 6 months deductions by Makinde govt

Some civil servants in Oyo State on Thursday declared an indefinite strike.

Our correspondent learnt that the employees declared the indefinite strike over allegation of unpaid deductions by the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration.

DAILY POST stories that actions at some ministries and companies at Oyo State Secretariat have been paralysed by the protesting employees on Thursday.

The ministries and companies that have been affected included; Girls’s Affairs and Social Inclusion, Native Authorities Service Fee, Oyo State Signage and Commercial Company (OYSAA), and Water Company of Oyo State.

DAILY POST stories that employees of the Water Company below the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Public Firms, Civil Service Technical and Leisure Providers Workers (AUPCTRE), launched into the strike following the failure of the state authorities to pay the six months deductions owed them Oyo State authorities.

AUPCTRE Secretary, Ibrahim Mohamed who addressed journalists on Thursday mentioned that the union had exploited all choices to resolve the matter to no avail.
