The police have confirmed the kidnapping of Chairman of Delta chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Goodluck Ofobruku, on Saturday night time in Asaba.
DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the spokesperson of the state Police Command, who confirmed the incident to journalists on Sunday in Asaba, stated that Ofobruku was a sufferer of armed theft earlier than he was kidnapped at gunpoint.
He stated: “The incident was a case of armed theft and abduction. The gunmen had been robbing on the street when the labour chief was driving out of his house.
“They intercepted his automobile and forcefully kidnapped him and took him to the close by bush.”
Onovwakpoyeya, nevertheless, stated that the command had dispatched its operatives to comb the bushes and rescue the NLC chairman.
In the meantime, Mr. Harmless Ofoyade, the Secretary of NLC within the state, informed newsmen on Sunday that Ofobruku was driving within the congress’s official Toyota Sienna house bus earlier than he was kidnapped, NAN stories.
