No fewer than fourty-seven (47) suspected armed bandits have been arrested in Ibarapa geo-political zone of Oyo State.
Sources advised DAILY POST on Tuesday that safety brokers, together with troopers and males of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested the 47 suspects.
Our correspondent learnt that the hoodlums who had been suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had been arrested by males of the Operation Burst, a joint safety outfit within the State.
DAILY POST gathered on Tuesday that the armed hoodlums had been arrested within the early hours of Sunday.
They had been arrested at Ofiki River, alongside Tapa/Igangan street within the Ibarapa North Native Authorities Space of the State.
It was learnt that the armed Fulani males had been invited by their kinsmen within the space in response to the raid carried out by the boys of the Oyo State Safety Community Company also referred to as Amotekun on Saturday.
The suspects, caught with weapons and different harmful weapons, had been stated to be on a reprisal mission within the space.
They had been arrested in a convoy of buses.
Public Relations Officer of the state Police command, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of the 47 suspects.
Fadeyi, a Chief Superintendent of Police stated the arrested hoodlums claimed that they had been trailing some kidnappers who had been about to gather ransom from relations of a kidnapped sufferer.
He added that investigation had been intensified on the arrest.
Fadeyi added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Prison Investigation Division (SCID), Iyaganku, Ibadan for discreet instigation.
“Sure, the arrested Fulani males have been transfered to SCID Iyaganku, Ibadan for discreet investigation.
“Although, it was alleged that the Fulani males claimed they had been trailing some kidnappers who had been about to gather ransom from relations of a kidnapped sufferer.
“Investigation intensified on the arrest,” he stated.
