Two dead as motorcycle collides with BRT in Lagos

Primero Transport Companies Ltd, operators of Bus Speedy Transit (BRT) in Lagos State, has expressed remorse over an accident that claimed two lives on Wednesday.

The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) stories that the accident, involving a BRT bus and a business motorbike operator carrying two passengers, befell on BRT lane at Ile-Igbo inward Abule-Egba space of Lagos.

The agency, in an announcement by its Head of Company Communications, Mr. Mutiu Yekeen, commiserated with the household of the victims.

Narrating the accident, Yakeen stated at about 4 a.m, a bus heading to Abule-Egba from Oshodi, was concerned in an accident that claimed the lives of two on the spot.

“A business motorcyclist, based on the Busman, appeared from nowhere on the BRT hall.

“The driving force who couldn’t keep away from the motorbike which had no headlamp and was going through the oncoming bus, knocked down the victims,” Yekeen added.

In keeping with him, the driving force of the BRT bus rapidly ran to Oke-Odo police station to report the matter.

He added that when the Lagos State Emergency Administration Company (LASEMA) staff arrived on the scene, two individuals had been found to have died on the spot and had been taken away by the staff.

Yekeen stated that the third particular person was taken to the hospital by the emergency staff.

The BRT spokesman added that the BRT bus and the motorbike (Okada) are at Oke-Odo Police Division.

“The matter continues to be below investigation because the IPO in command of the case requested the BRT administration to offer police 48 hours for the households of the victims to look.

“The life of each Lagosian is valuable to Primero.

“Whereas we remorse the accident that led to the lack of lives, the administration appeals to all business motorcyclists, non-public vehicles and ‘danfo’ drivers to cease encroaching on the BRT corridors to keep away from future accidents,” the assertion added.

Yakeen lamented that the operators are going through so many challenges on BRT corridors and the most important stays motorbike riders encroaching into BRT lanes.

He urged the Lagos Metropolitan Space Transport Authority, LAMATA, and Lagos State Visitors Administration Authority, LASTMA to help in deploying their officers to checkmate the actions of drivers which have invaded the BRT corridors.”
